Will getting a digital converter box help me receive more HD local channels?

I just recently purchased a 40" HD television and I do have digital cable but I really don't want to pay right now for the upgrade to HD Cable since not many channels are offered by my carrier. I cannot get satellite where I am at so that is out of the question but I can receive 2 HD locals but the two others I cannot receive. Will getting one of the Digital Converter boxes help me boost my signal reception or should I just invest in a better antenna?

It is possible that the converter box has a better HD tuner than the TV, but you would be better off getting a better antenna. Go to this site:
    http://www.antennaweb.org/aw/welcome.aspx
enter your zip code and see what kind of antenna they recommend to get the stations you want.

Besides, if you get a coupon-eligible converter box, that will not give you HDTV. (They do not have component or HDMI outputs.)
